Recording #4
After fumbling around a while I finally figured out how and where to put things. My first attempt worked out great if I wanted to open it off my desk top and share the way I would normally be doing this however, in order to get this where it needed to be was a hoop jumping rodeo event. As you will note the video is earmarked number 4. I thought the issues would be synchronizing the oral with the the power point. Not at all that went smooth as silk. At one point I had so many screens open I forgot where I was at and deleted everything and started over. The second go around went better up to the point where I needed the youtube account then the windows starting appearing once again. Well as you well know it took one more after that but I made it , it is here and I hope you enjoy.

When the video first starts out, it appears you were ad lib'ing the start. There were a few "umms" in there. Once you dove into the description of the process, you were concise and on point. There were no "umms, ahhs," or other utterances. You plowed right though it.
ReplyDeleteOther than the few "umms' at the start, it went well.
Are you going to use this for your course? Do you have other things you might use this for down the road?
Matt it was scripted from beginning to end. Being this is the first shot at something like this I was pleased and picked up a few things to make improvements. Yes this is a tool I find useful and see a huge potential in my area for these types of presentations. These could be inserted into blackboard or canvas as additional viewing for students to clarify processes or components for a better understanding. I can see this as a huge asset for students who lack the motivation to read and spend the time needed to gain understanding. I feel they would prefer this type of interaction and find it more valuable.
ReplyDeleteIt think for your first shot you did great! It's not always easy to record ourselves and then listen. Do you think you will be using Screencasting after this?
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this is a great tool and can be used in so many beneficial ways for teaches, trainer and students.
Your presentation is really cool i like the way you high lighted the section you were talking about, this gave me the opertunity to follow the presentation closely and be able to understand it so much better. thanks for doing 4 time to get it better each time.
ReplyDeletethanks appreciate the feed back I was pleased for the first time ever and I can see many useful applications for this tool.

DeleteDavid-this is a great first video! (even if you had a little frustration getting it done!) I'm glad to hear that you see useful applications for screencasting. I think you are starting a masters in ed admin in the fall...how do you think screencasting might be useful for you in grad school?
ReplyDeleteRobin, I am not sure it will depend on the content and what I have to put together. I am looking forward to giving it a try either way. I have already started on another for the HVAC class that will be killer, the options are wide open right now until I hit that first big stumbling block. The blog tomorrow has included the editing portion and I am loving it too. Extremely useful.
